Our Icelandic adventure happened in recent times! We decided to exlplore this country in a very different way. We started our Iceland Ring Roud itinerary from the capital Reykjavik where we’ve picked up our trusty campervan. That was our cozy home on wheels for the subsequent eight days.

Iceland Ring Road

It felt surreal – the important thing in our hands, the open road stretching earlier than us, and the liberty of van existence tingling with pleasure. Here are the places we visited on Day 1:

A) Þingvellir National Park

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a records buff’s dream. The earth in reality splits open right here, marking the dramatic rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We wandered the stark landscape, marveling at the Almannagjá gorge and Öxarárfoss waterfall, their energy echoing through some time. We figured out that this was one of the scenarios of Vikings TV Serie.

B) Haukadalur Geothermal

Going next, we journeyed to the Haukadalur geothermal vicinity. Towering geysers like Strokkur put on a charming show, erupting each couple of minutes. Witnessing a geyser erupt for the first time was truly unforgettable! The plumes of steam and boiling dust swimming pools reminded us of Iceland’s uncooked, untamed electricity.

C) Gullfoss Waterfall

No journey along the Ring Road would be complete without witnessing the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall. Often referred to as the “Golden Falls,” its power and beauty left us speechless. The cascading water plunges dramatically into a narrow canyon, creating a breathtaking spectacle and one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland.

D) Gljufrabúi

A hidden gem awaited us – Gljúfrabúi, a mystery waterfall tucked away in a canyon. A quick, adventurous trek led us in the lower back of the cascading water, imparting a completely unique mindset of its thundering power.

E) Skógafoss Waterfall

Skógafoss, a giant waterfall, stole the show subsequent. We braved the spray to get up near, feeling the uncooked energy of the cascading water. The close by Seljalandsfoss waterfall provided a one-of-a-kind attitude – a threat to stroll backstage of water itself (with proper rain device, of course!).

F) Rangárþing eystra Geothermal Pools

As the day drew to a near, we relaxed within the geothermal swimming swimming pools at Rangárþing eystra. Soaking within the in reality heated water, surrounded via beautiful mountain surroundings, emerge as the best way to unwind after a jam-packed day.

G) Vík

Exhausted but exhilarated from our adventure-packed day, we determined to make our final forestall for the night time at the campground in Vík, the charming village regarded for its black sand beaches and dramatic coastline. Exploring the village itself could have to await tomorrow. We’ve stayed in a Camping called Vík tjaldsvæði wich may be very large and properly geared up.

Day 1 in Iceland Ring Road was a whirlwind of points of interest and testimonies. We fell in love with Iceland’s uncooked splendor, the fun of van lifestyles, and the promise of the journey that lay in advance. In the map bellow, you can see our whole Day 1 Itinerary.
